ISO 29993:2017 is a standard that gives direction on how associations can execute social obligation in learning administrations outside proper schooling. It defines social responsibility as an organization’s responsibility for its effects on society and the environment through open and ethical behavior that contributes to sustainable development, considers stakeholder expectations, and complies with applicable laws. The standard provides guidelines for developing and implementing a social responsibility strategy and action plan, as well as for identifying, analyzing, and responding to an organization’s impacts on social responsibility. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) created the relatively new standard ISO 29993:2017. In response to the growing recognition of the significance of social responsibility in learning services outside of formal education, the development of this standard began in 2011. The first international standard specifically addressing social responsibility in learning services, it was published in 2017. The standard is based on international norms of behavior and best practices and was developed by a committee of experts from more than 30 countries.
