HISTORY OF ISO 21001

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) created the relatively new standard ISO 21001:2018. In response to the growing recognition of the significance of social responsibility in educational organizations, the development of this standard began in 2016. The first international standard specifically addressing social responsibility in the educational sector, it was published in 2018. The standard is based on international norms of behavior and best practices and was developed by a committee of experts from over 40 countries. The purpose of ISO 21001:2018 is to assist educational institutions in enhancing their performance in social responsibility, enhancing their reputation, and establishing trust with stakeholders
